No lumps of coal

We had a fabulous Christmas at home this year. I have been cooking a lot mostly trying new things and I have made so many batches of cookies. We LOVE sugar cookies in our house and they don't last longer than a day. We have tons and tons of snow, the kids have been out in it making snow forts and trying to shovel. Aaron took the kids to help Grandpa feed the cows one day, I don't think they were much help. Marin got a little mp3 player and has turned into a teenager overnight. She loves it. Greyson got a Diego rescue backpack, Ashton wanted the Bat Cave and our sweet Mesa got a new doll and a little bird in a cage that tweets for her. Happy New Year to everyone!

Funny kids

Marin got a lifesaver book from her grandma and grandpa and as she was opening it she curiously says "Why do they call them lifesavers, they don't help anything?"

Ashton was watching me put my apron on to make some sugar cookies and lovingly says "yea, woman you better put that apron on."

I was picking up Greyson's sippi cup to wipe off the greasy fingerprints and he shouts " Don't touch that, mom!"

If Mesa could talk she would probably tell me how bored she is sometimes and wishes she could go on a vacation!

A star in the making...

We are proud of our sweet Marinator who bravely sang a solo at her Christmas school program. And she wasn't even nervous.

Whapping 5 years old!

The twins turned 5 yesterday and as usual Ashton gets to pick what they do for their party. Mesa probably wouldn't care anyway if she could say one way or the other. There isn't much to do in the arctic winter season in Rexburg but they do have "The Rex" with bowling and a party house. They all had a good time. I finally got Greyson to bounce in the little house and go down the slide. I was quite proud of my find at Broulilms bakery for their cake and the green frosting was the best part. It is hard to believe I had them 5 years ago. They were so little and fragile at 32 weeks, I was even nervous to see them because they were so tiny at 3 pounds each. They are so sweet and happy. I love them so!

Thanksgiving in Hibbard

Well, we started off the feast with a showing of New Moon Wednesday night. All my sisters, sister in law and two teenage nieces. Of course this was my second time seeing it because I went to Utah and saw it with my friends but it truly is better the second time. I discovered a little secret at the movie. My two sisters and sister in law are all pregnant. I actually started to tear up, feeling bad that I couldn't join the party. But actually I don't want to lay in a hospital bed for 4 months so......I'll pass! I am so happy for them. Their additions this summer will make that 16 grandkids. Whoa nelly!! Miss and love you Jo and Clarkia.

Idaho Girl

I have been trying to figure out what the definition of a true Idaho girl is. For one, I love the smell of burning ditches and weeds. That's probably really weird but it reminds me of when I was little and my sister and I actually cared for two baby cows (calves) called Star and Cracker. Or maybe I am true Idaho girl because Greyson and I went out in freezing weather today and worked out at the highschool track. Maybe true Idaho girls only marry farm boys from small towns. My two sisters married boys from Malad and Salmon, very small town. And I married a rough and tough farm boy from Rexburg. Josue somehow missed the boat on that one, but it's because she chose to venture to Utah for school. Although her husband did live in Idaho for a while, I guess that counts. I could be a true Idaho girl because I have 3 different kinds of potatoes in my pantry right now. If a true Idaho girl has to enjoy shooting things, fishing, camping and hiking then I am OUT!!! Idaho girls go shopping, right?
